BAMMA 16 Receives Two Title Fights

(11.7.14, London) Europe’s flagship Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, has confirmed two title bouts to the main card for “BAMMA 16: Daley vs Fernandes” which takes place on 13th September at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse: Ashleigh Grimshaw is set to challenge Tom Duquesnoy for the BAMMA World Featherweight title strap; while Scotland’s Shaun Taylor aims to usurp BAMMA Lonsdale British Welterweight champion, Leon Edwards. TOM DUQUESNOY VS ASHLEIGH GRIMSHAW – BAMMA WORLD FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE BOUT

BAMMA World Featherweight champion, Tom ‘Fire Kid’ Duquesnoy, defeated Teddy Violet at BAMMA 15 to earn the title, following a crushing defeat of James Saville via TKO at BAMMA 14. Fighting out of European Top Team in France with competitive experience across Europe, Duquesnoy currently holds a professional record of 9-1-0. The fierce talent has finished two of his opponents within 36 seconds of the very first round, and has only seen the 3rd round once. The 21 year old first made his mark on British soil when he beat then undefeated Scott Hunt via TKO in 34 seconds.

Challenger Ashleigh “Cruiser” Grimshaw brings 11 years professional experience as arsenal, and holds a record of 16-8-1. Fighting out of the renowned Team Titan, the Londoner is riding a 6 fight win streak of 1st round finishes. Past conquests include names such as Phil Harris and Vaughan Lee, alongside a Who’s Who of UK opponents. Grimshaw is currently ranked #5 in the UK and Ireland at Featherweight.

LEON EDWARDS VS SHAUN TAYLOR – BAMMA LONSDALE BRITISH WELTERWEIGHT BOUT

BAMMA Lonsdale British Welterweight champion, Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards, scored the title at BAMMA 15 when he defeated veteran Wayne Murrie. To this date the Birmingham fighter has never been beaten, with his sole loss due to disqualification for an illegal knee. Edwards holds a current professional MMA record of 7-1-0 and a prior Amateur record of  8-0-0.  At BAMMA 11, Edwards defeated Jonathan Bilton via TKO just 1:11 in to round 2; at BAMMA 13 he defeated Adam Boussif via Arm-Triangle choke at 2:10 in round 1; Edwards returned for BAMMA 14 to devastate striker Wendle Lewis at 1:20 into round 1.

Shaun “The Disgrace” Taylor is undefeated with a record of 7-0-0 that includes 5 first round finishes and the majority of wins via Submission.  Fighting out of the Lycans Fight Team / Gracie Barra Ayrshire  in Kilmarnock (Scotland), Shaun Taylor is now signed to BAMMA for 4 Fights over 18 months.  Taylor holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and has competed multiple times in Muay Thai.
