Shay Walsh (c) Vs. Tom ‘Firekid’ DuQuesnoy – BAMMA Bantamweight Title

Shay Walsh (14-3) was crowned BAMMA Bantamweight Champion after defeating Ed ‘King’ Arthur in the BAMMA Fight of the year 2015 at BAMMA 23: Night Of Champions. The Tiger Muay Thai exponent has been undefeated since joining BAMMA, and having recently signed an extension deal with the promotion, he will be aiming to keep that winning streak alive in the first defence of his Title. Walsh loves to pour on the pressure in his fights and break his opponents, and this battle will be no different. With his title on the line and everything at stake, Walsh will not only be looking to win in dominant fashion, but to put a stop to DuQuesnoys hype train and retain his title.

“Big fight for BAMMA and for me. Champion v Champion. I will be ready to defend my crown, I’m not going to let anyone take this away from me on the biggest and best MMA show in Europe!” Shay Walsh (BAMMA Bantamweight Champion)

The French phenom Tom ‘Firekid’ DuQuesnoy (12-1-1) put the entire Bantamweight division on notice as he made his debut at Bantamweight at BAMMA 24: Kone Vs. Phillips in Dublin. In his first bout at the weight, Duquesnoy put Damien ‘The Rage’ Rooney away in devastating fashion in just 1:22 of the first round. Now undefeated in 3 years, DuQuesnoy has been working his way to this point where he could be BAMMA’s first two division champion. Training out of the world renowned Jackson-Wink MMA in Alberqueque, New Mexico with the likes of Jon Jones, BJ Penn, Holly Holm and a host of Elite level MMA stars, DuQuesnoy has surrounded himself with the best to ensure that he beats BAMMA’s best come May 14th at the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham.

“ I am pleased to see that work pays.  My aim is to be the best, in the categories in which I fight & win the belts. It is very interesting and the level of competitiveness is exciting because I meet the best in each weight category.

I think Shay is a brave and tough opponent, always well prepared. He has a well-completed style. I think we will have a super fight.  Thanks for the support from the very beginning, the English public has always been respectful even though I’m not local. My first fight was at BAMMA 14 in Birmingham and I think it’s great to have the opportunity to unify the two belts where I started.

I have been with Bamma for over two years now and I am pleased of our collaboration, we have evolved in the same direction and are still growing.  I’m sure BAMMA 25 is going to be one of the best of the year, a lot of title fights with champions who will be at 100% of their abilities and ready to defend their title. I’m looking forward to it very much!“ – Tom DuQuesnoy (BAMMA Featherweight Champion)

BAMMA 25: Champion Vs. Champion is set to be BAMMA’s biggest event ever and with Walsh and DuQuesnoy headlining a stacked card from top to bottom, May 14th will be the must see European MMA event of 2016. Both fighters are set on their Collision Course and only one will walk away BAMMA Bantamweight Champion. It’s going to be all out war in what will most likely be a fight of the year candidate as BAMMA once more brings you the best in European MMA.

“There could not be two more different individuals who have clearly taken two different paths to get to this point. Both the bantamweight champion and featherweight champion have made major adjustments to their games and have decided that leaving the shores of their native countries is the best way to improve as martial artist. With both consistently striving for perfection, this fight will be a culmination of a life time of work for both Tom and Shay, with the winner taking all the spoils” Jude Samuel (BAMMA Matchmaker)
