The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts has added one of England’s top lightweights to its roster, as it has signed Manchester’s Martin Stapleton. According to the official announcement, the deal is a multi-fight, 18 month contract.

The Bellator vet will make his promotional debut on December 6th, at BAMMA 17, versus Jeremy Petley.

“I’ve had a lot of offers come in but BAMMA put together a good plan for me which gave me confidence that they are going to keep me busy,” Stapleton was quoted saying in the official announcement. “I’ve worked with Chris Zorba in the past and i felt that he and the rest of the guys at BAMMA recognised my value that I’ll bring to the promotion. BAMMA gave me a breakdown of the events they have planned for next year and it was something i wanted to be involved in!”

“Jeremy is an extremely skilled, athletic guy who has shown he is skilled in every aspect of Mixed Martial Arts. I like the fact that he comes out to fight and i think it will make for fight of the night for sure!

Stapleton (14-4) is coming off a stoppage win over Kostadin Enev this past weekend, while competing for Full Contact Contender. Prior to that he was submitted by Goiti Yamauchi at Bellator 129 in September.

Petley (10-5-1) hasn’t fought since March, when he lost via split decision to UFC vet Andre Winner. The defeat ended Petley’s five fight, win streak.

BAMMA 17 will be hosted by the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, England on December 6th.
