Bellator has announced that the promotion’s October 25th card in Rio Rancho, New Mexico will feature the semifinals of the Season Nine lightweight tourney. In one bracket Saad Awad will face Will Brooks for a second time, and in the other, “Tiger” Sarnavskiy will fight Ricardo Tirloni.

Brooks (11-1) worked his way to an impressive unanimous decision win over John Alessio in the quarterfinals last month, and Awad (15-5) tapped out Martin Stapleton in the first round. Brooks and Awad fought in a semifinal bout this past February, and the latter stopped the rising lightweight in under 60 seconds.

“You’re going to see the best Saad Awad you’ve seen to date,” Awad said in a press release from the promotion. “Fans are definitely going to see a fight of the night performance. I plan on pushing the pace every minute he’s in there with me.  I’m taking this tournament one fight at a time, but as long as I am in the cage it’s do or die for me and I don’t plan on dying anytime soon. “

“I’m very excited and beyond ready for this semifinal fight against Awad,” Brooks said. “Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish what I started in the first tournament, but this time around things will end differently. I continue to improve my game every day and stay focused on the goal at hand, which is beating Awad and moving on in the tournament.”

Sarnavskiy (24-1) quickly dropped and submitted UFC vet Marcus Davis in the tourney’s opening round, while Tirloni scored a UD win over Rich Clementi.

The upcoming event’s main card, which will be hosted by the Santa Ana Star Center, will be broadcast on SPIKE.
