Bellator 108: Shlemenko-Marshall Title Fight Booked

By FCF Staff

Bellator has confirmed that the promotion’s November 15th card at the Revel in Atlantic City, will feature middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko taking on Doug Marshall in the main event.

Shlemenko and Marshall had been scheduled to fight at Bellator 98 last month, but an injury forced Marshall out of the bout, and Brett Cooper took his place. Shlemenko (48-7) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Cooper in what was a thrilling, five round bout.

The victory was Shlemenko’s 11th straight in a row.

“Fans know exactly what to expect when they see me fight, and I like to entertain,” Shlemenko said in a press release from the promotion. “And I’m very glad that I’ll have a chance to entertain them again fighting against Doug Marshall. He’s a tough fighter, the type of fighter with whom I’ll be able to show a spectacular bout that everyone will remember.”

Marshall (18-6), meanwhile, defeated Andreas Spang, Sultan Aliev and Cooper to win Bellator’s Season 8 middleweight tourney. The victories over Spang and Cooper were via stoppage.

“I’m super excited about this fight,” Marshall said. “I was bummed when I had to watch Brett Cooper take my spot because of my injury, but after watching the fight I was able to see that there is no way Shlemenko can beat me. The only thing Shlemenko has is that he is tough. There is no doubt in my mind that I am the most powerful middleweight in the division. As soon as Shlemenko feels my fist on the side of his face he will be sleeping on the mat. Winning this fight is a no brainer for me.”

The November 15th event will be broadcast on SPIKE.
