Bellator 122: Middleweight and Welterweight Finals Booked for July 25th

By FCF Staff

After Brett Cooper was forced to withdraw from his May 9th, scrap with Brandon Halsey due to injury, Bellator has announced that the middleweight tourney final has been rebooked for July 25th. In addition, the promotion has confirmed that the welterweight tournament final between Andrey Koreshkov and Adam McDonough will also take place at Bellator 122.

Cooper (20-9), who dropped out of Bellator 119 as a result of a back injury, knocked out Kendall Grove in March to advance to the tourney finals.

Halsey (6-0), meanwhile, decisioned Joe Pachecho in the competition’s semis.

“My injury was a setback, but with some time off I feel great heading into this fight,” said Cooper, who challenged Alexander Shlemenko for the title in September but lost by decision. “I am stronger and couldn’t be more excited to get back into the cage. I’m looking forward to winning another tournament and getting another shot against Shlemenko.”

Koreshkov (16-1), who won the tournament in 2012, is coming off KO wins over Justin Baesman and Nah-Shon Burrell.

McDonough (11-0), on the other hand, defeated welterweights Jesse Juarez and Nate Coy to advance to the tourney finals.

Bellator 122 will be hosted by the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, and the main card will be broadcast on SPIKE.
