Georgi Karakhanyan’s quest to become Bellator featherweight champ has been put on hold, as the promotion has announced that the veteran will no longer fight champion Patricio Freire on June 19th, due to a knee injury.

Stepping in for Karakhanyan will be Daniel Weichel (35-8), who is currently riding a seven fight winning streak, and is coming off a split decision win over former champ, Pat Curran.

Freire (23-2), meanwhile, will be fighting for the first time since January when he tapped out Daniel Straus in the fourth round. “Pitbull” has has won six in a row.
