Bellator 149: Royce Gracie – Ken Shamrock III Ends in Controversy
By FCF Staff
Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie waited over ten years to battle again, but their third fight ended quickly and in controversy.
The legends fought in the headliner of Bellator 149 tonight, and Gracie was awarded the stoppage win less than three minutes in. Gracie hit Shamrock with a couple of knees, and after the latter went to the mat, the jiu-jitsu icon finished the bout with punches. The replay appeared to show, however, that Gracie had hit Shamrock low with a knee.
Shamrock furiously protested the stoppage, but Gracie was awarded the victory, in what was his first bout since 2007.
In the co-headliner, Kimbo Slice finished his rival DADA 5000, in a bout that surely will be panned throughout the MMA world. Both men were exhausted as the opening round came to an end, and both men could hardly move by round three. Slice hit 5000 with several punches to end the bout, but the latter likely hit the floor as a result of pure exhaustion.
Here the results for Bellator 149, which took place in Houston, Texas.
