Bellator 149: Royce Gracie Says He’s Ready to Fight, “I’ve Been Going to The Range Everday”

By FCF Staff

Royce Gracie hasn’t fought since 2007 and is 49 years old, but the legend says he’ll be ready to go when he faces Ken Shamrock on February 19th.

Gracie and Shamrock are booked to fight at Bellator 149, and the bout will be the third time the fighters have battled. In 1993, Gracie quickly submitted Shamrock, and when they met again in 1995 they fought to a draw.

Recently Gracie spoke with MMA Junkie.com, and while discussing his return, he stated:

“I’ve been out of fighting? It makes it sound like I’m sitting at home scratching my nuts doing nothing,” Gracie said. “I’ve been going to the range every day. My drawing is good and fast, I’m on target, I shoot and I don’t miss. It doesn’t mean I’ve been going to battle, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t practiced. It’s like a soldier that goes to the range every day and does everything for war. He shoots, he runs, everything is on good. He’s just not in battle. That’s my case. Now I’m going to go to battle. It doesn’t mean I’m fat or out of shape.”

Bellator 149 will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
