Bellator 149 didn’t feature top tier contenders or championship fights in the headliners, but as many predicted would happen, the February 21st card drew big ratings.

Friday’s event, which featured Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice vs. DADA 5000, averaged 1,964,000 viewers (according to a report from MMA Fighting.com). The card peaked at 2.5 million viewers during the latter bout. The Gracie – Shamrock fight peaked at 2.4 million viewers.

Bellator’s previous record was an average of 1,580,000 viewers and a peak of 2.3 million viewers. That was for the Ken Shamrock – Kimbo Slice card back in June.

Bellator 149 took place at the Toyota Center in Houston and was broadcast on Spike.
