James Gallagher hasn’t locked up a title fight just yet, but the Irish fighter says a win tonight at Bellator 204 will secure him one in his native Ireland.

Gallagher is set to face bantamweight Ricky Bandejas at Bellator 204, which will take place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Recently the SBG Gym fighter told ESPN the following:

“I’ve been promised a shot at the world title in my hometown after I run through this fight, and that’s the only reason I went down,” said Gallagher, who has competed at featherweight. “But I feel great. I was thinking I would just bounce down to win the belt and bounce back up, but if I keep feeling how I feel now, I’ll stick around.”

“If you listen, I say I’m fighting for the belt in December, not that I’m fighting Darrion Caldwell. That’s a big difference. I am 100 percent down to fight Darrion Caldwell, but I don’t care if he’s there or not. I’m fighting for the belt in December, it’s that simple.

Bantamweight champ Darrion Caldwell is competing at Bellator 204, but the 135 title is not on the line, as he’s fighting Noad Lahat at 145.
