Bellator 72: Amoussou Stuns Baker With Quick Heel Hook, Daley Stops Bears

Karl Amoussou quickly entrenched a title fight with Bellator champion Ben Askren tonight in Tampa, Florida, as the veteran made short work of Bryan Baker to win the promotion’s welterweight tourney.
Shortly into the Bellator 72 bout, Amoussou transitioned into a beautifully timed heel hook off a scramble, and forced Baker to tap-out 56 seconds into the fight.
Paul Daley also had a quick night, as the noted striker and heavy favorite dropped Rudy Bears with a left hook and finished the fight with follow up strikes.
In the Bellator light-heavyweight tourney semifinals, Travis Wiuff utilized his wrestling and ground-and-pound to defeat Tim Carpenter by unanimous decision, and Attila Vegh narrowly got by Emanuel Newton with a split decision win.
In preliminary card action, Ben Saunders got back on the winning track in impressive fashion, as the UFC vet quickly put away Brian Warren with a vicious series of knees and punches.
