Bellator has confirmed that its July 20th event in Tampa, Florida, will feature the welterweight tourney final between Karl Amoussou and Bryan Baker, as well as the semifinals of the promotion’s upcoming light-heavyweight tournament.

Amoussou (15-4) submitted Chris Lozano, and more recently scored a split decision win over David Rickels, to advance to the tourney finals.

“This is the biggest fight of my career,” Amoussou was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I’m going to win this tournament, and then I’m going to win the belt. I’m coming for Ben Askren.”

Baker (18-3) worked his way through the quarter and semifinals by earning decision wins over Carlos Alexandre Pereira and UFC vet Ben Saunders.

“I’m 100 percent focused on this fight and nothing else,” the former middleweight said. “I want to make this a professional fight and just put on the best show possible for the fans. I know Karl is going to come out aggressive like always, and I don’t have much doubt this fight is going to end with a stoppage. I want this Tournament Championship more than anything, and I’m going to get it.”

Bellator 72 will also feature a third bout between Marius Zaromskis (17-6) and Waachim Spiritwolf (9-10).

The two fought for the second time at Bellator 68 last month, but the bout was called to a halt after round two, due to a cut Spiritwolf had incurred.

In their first meeting, at a Strikeforce event in 2010, the bout was declared a no contest in round one after Spiritwolf was poked in the eye and could not continue.

The upcoming event will be hosted by the University of South Florida’s Sun Dome and will be broadcast on MTV 2.
