Bellator has begun confirming the quarterfinals for the promotion’s upcoming heavyweight tournament, which will get underway October 5th at The Venue at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana.

Once again, the promotion will try to produce an official result with a bout between Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos. Their first encounter last November was declared a nocontest, after Prindle could not continue due to a low blow, and then two more fights failed to materialize due to Prindle being ill and Santos failing to make weight.

Prindle (7-2) was awarded a bout with heavyweight champ Cole Konrad, as a result of Santos failing to make weight, but was quickly submitted by the noted wrestler at Bellator 70 in May.

Santos (10-1) hasn’t competed since the aforementioned no contest result versus Prindle.

In another quarterfinal bout, Strikeforce vet Brett Rogers (12-4) will take on Bellator newcomer Ruslan Magomedov (8-1).

Rogers is coming off a successful promotional debut in June, as he stopped Kevin Asplund (via doctor stoppage due to cut) at Bellator 71.

“I love to fight, and after the win against Kevin [Aslpund], it gave me even more motivation to keep training hard and getting in there and do exactly what I know I can do, and give the fans a show,” Rogers was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I want all the fans to know Brett Rogers is back. I’m training the hardest I ever have at ATT in Coconut Creek, and just getting ready to show everyone what I can do.”

Magomedov last competed in April and scored a first round, submission choke win over Igor Zadernovsky while competing for the League S-70 organization.

Prior to that the Russian heavyweight earned a unanimous decision win over former UFC champ Ricco Rodriguez at a United Glory card in March.

Bellator has also announced that former WEC champ Chase Beebe (20-8) will compete on the card against an opponent to be determined.
