With Bellator having concluded its latest season, and the first that was broadcast on SPIKE, the promotion has begun unveiling its plans for summer. According to a press release sent out today, Bellator will hold four man tournaments in the heavyweight, light-heavyweight and bantamweight division as part of its “Summer Series.”

No details regarding when the competitions will kick off, or who will compete in them, was included.

“We are always striving to enhance every aspect of the Bellator formula for our fighters and fans,” Bellator CEO & Chairman Bjorn Rebney was quoted saying in the announcement. “Our Champions consistently defending their titles against world class challengers who’ve earned their title shots creates a win/win for those two crucial groups.  Three stacked 4-man tournaments over our Summer Series on Spike is another great step in our growth and evolution”

Bellator’s traditional tournaments begin with eight fighters and three rounds of competition, however, due to time constraints, the Summer Series tourneys will feature just two rounds of bouts.

The eight-man format will return for Bellator’s fall season.
