Season 7 Bellator lightweight tourney winner Dave Jansen continues to recover from the knee surgery he underwent in June, which pulled him from a title fight with champion Michael Chandler. The 34 year-old vet earned the right to battle Chandler in March by defeating Marcin Held, but tore his ACL and has been sidelined since.

When contacted Thursday for an update on his condition, “The Fugitive” relayed to Full Contact Fighter:

“I’m right on schedule with my patellar tendon graft healing nicely after my ACL reconstruction. I’m not sure when I’ll be fighting again, but I’m guessing that I’ll be facing the winner of Chandler-Alvarez sometime between March and May of next year.”

Jansen (19-2), who scored wins over Ricardo Tirloni, Magomed Saadulaev and Held to win the Season 7 competition, has won six straight fights.

Chandler and Eddie Alvarez are set to rematch at Bellator’s upcoming, November 2nd PPV event in Long Beach, California. Chandler defeated Alvarez in their first outing back in November, 2011, to become the promotion’s champion.
