Bellator’s Michael Page Wants Royce Gracie Like Legacy, But For Striking
By FCF Staff
Michael Page continues to wrack up, highlight reel wins, and “Venom” is hoping to create a legacy with the unorthodox striking game he employs.
The British fighter took on Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos at Bellator 158 on Saturday, and finished the vet with a crushing, flying knee. After the win, which moved Page’s record to 11-0, he relayed (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“So many people have titles,” said Page, who typically fights with his hands down by his waist. “Not everyone can create a legacy in a sport.”
“My standup style is completely different than anybody out there. That’s the kind of thing I want. The way the Gracies – Royce is here somewhere – what he did to the sport of MMA is what I want to do to the sport of MMA.”
The 29 year-old Page, who trained extensively in kickboxing before transitioning into MMA, has won seven bouts now under the Bellator banner.
