A biopic film about the life of former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner is reportedly set to begin production later this year.

The film will be produced by Christopher Scheimann and Olcun Tan, and they will work with sports director Bobby Razak, according to a report from Variety.  Razak directed a short documentary about Tanner’s life titled “1”.

The report states the film will go into pre-production later in 2019 and principal photography will start in early, 2020.

Tanner passed away at the age of 37 in 2008, while on a solo, desert expedition in California. Tanner, who won the UFC’s middleweight title in 2005, went 32-8 during his career.
