Blagoy Ivanov is Targeting Bout With Derrick Lewis, Following UFC 238 Win
By FCF Staff
After defeating Tai Tuivasa this past weekend at UFC 238, Blagoy Ivanov is hoping to secure a fight with fellow heavyweight contender, Derrick Lewis.
Ivanov (18-2) outscored Tuivasa for a unanimous decision win at the Chicago event, and in doing so, the former WSOF champ moved his UFC record to 2-1. Following the event, Ivanov reported the following, while discussing his next bout (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I just want to take a break for a little bit, and then we’ll see. But I’m good to fight with Derrick Lewis. I think that’s a good fight for me. … He’s a southpaw, and I like to fight with southpaws. He’s big and he can take some punches.”
Lewis (21-7), meanwhile, has dropped back-to-back bouts to Daniel Cormier and Junior dos Santos. The heavy-handed fighter is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.
