Bowling vs. Voelker 3, Other Bouts Confirmed for July 22nd Challengers

By FCF Staff

Strikeforce has begun unveiling the line-up for the promotion’s upcoming July 22nd Challengers event in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will include a rubber match between Bobby Voelker and Roger Bowling in the main event.

Bowling (9-1) was victorious in their first meeting last May, as he was awarded the technical decision when he was unable to continue after receiving an accidental eye poke from Voelker (23-8) in the third round. In the rematch five months later, at Challengers11 on October 22nd, Voelker stopped Bowler in the second frame. (Pictured: Voelker (left) and Bowling slugging it out)

“The rubber match between Voelker and Bowling will not only settle the score between the two, but it will also help determine another rising contender in the welterweight division,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said in the announcement. “This event on July 22 is loaded with potentially explosive fights and we’re excited to kick off our relationship with the Palms with such a great card.”

Other bouts that have been confirmed for the upcoming Challengers event include former women’s welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman (13-1) vs. Liz Carmouche (5-1), Devin Cole (18-9-1) vs. fellow heavyweight veteran Lavar Johnson (15-4), and middleweight Adlan Amagov (7-1-1) vs. Roger Stallings (9-3).

The July 22nd event will be hosted by The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort and will be broadcast on Showtime at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
