Brandon Moreno’s next challenge is set for this Saturday at UFC 290, but ahead of the card, the champ’s confirmed he wants to compete in boxing at some point.

Moreno is scheduled to defend the flyweight title against Alexandre Pantoja at the upcoming card, which is taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will be Moreno’s first since he unified the titles in January, by recording a TKO win over Deiveson Figueiredo.

Ahead of the bout, the Mexican fighter spoke with MMA Junkie, and the champ reported he intends to compete in the sport that’s so popular in his homeland.

“I would love to fight in boxing,” Moreno said. “I loved the fact that I used to think that it was a sport that was one-dimensional and there wasn’t a ton to learn. However, it always surprises you. The head movements, the footwork – there are so many things you have to do. So yes, that’s definitely something I want to have on my record when it’s all over and I retire. I want to be able to tell my grandkids I boxed as well.”

Moreno (21-6-2) will be fighting Pantoja (25-5) for the third time at UFC 290. Pantoja submitted the flyweight during the 2016 season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, and recorded a unanimous decision win over Moreno in 2018.
