Brendan Allen Won’t Fight Nassourdine Imavov in Paris if It’s Not Main Event

Recently it was reported that Benoit Saint Denis versus Renato Moicano will headline the UFC’s next card in Paris. But, if that’s the case, Brendan Allen says he won’t be fighting Nassourdine Imavov at the event.
The UFC is returning to the historic city for a card on September 28th, and this week it was reported Saint Denis and Moicano will battle in the main event. While commenting on that news via his Instagram account, Allen reportedly said he was offered a bout with Imavov at the event. But, the middleweight contender added he’s not willing to fight Imavov in any other spot, other than the headliner (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).
“This is for everyone that’s asking me what’s up, when am I fighting?” Allen said. “Two weeks ago, they said Imavov in Paris. I said yes. I said I want to be main event because I’ve main evented three in a row, won all three. I’m going into enemy territory, so if we’re going to do it for all the risk, all the gain, let’s go. Main event.
“Next thing you know, we see [Benoit Saint Denis] and [Renato] Moicano are the main event. I ain’t f*cking going all the way to Paris for these two dudes to go over me. One dude is coming off a loss, the other one barely wins, bro. Nah, I’m not with it.”
Allen proceeded to say he’d be willing to fight Imavov in the United States.
The 28-year-old Allen (24-5) is coming off a split-decision win over Chris Curtis in April and has won 7 straight.
Imavov (14-4), who is 29, recorded a TKO win over Jared Cannonier in his last outing, which took place in June. The middleweight is undefeated in his last three fights.
Currently, Imavov is ranked #4 in the UFC’s middleweight rankings and Allen is ranked #7.
