Brian Kelleher Explains Why he Wants to Fight John Lineker, After Defeating Renan Barao
By FCF Staff
After defeating Renan Barao at UFC on FOX 28 this past weekend, Brian Kelleher is targeting a bout with another of Brazil’s top bantamweights in John Lineker.
Kelleher worked his way to a decision win over the former champ at the event, and in doing so, the American moved his UFC record to 3-1. Following the victory, Kelleher had this to say, while discussing who he wants to fight next (quote via MMA Junkie):
“John Lineker is a good matchup for me,” Kelleher said. “I think that’s a guy that I should fight next. … I know I belong in the top 10, and I know I’m going to be a world champ, so I’m willing to fight anyone. I think John Lineker is just a guy that’s ready for a fight. A couple of months in Atlantic City seems perfect for me. If that’s good for him, let’s do this.
“We can stand in there and we can trade. I’m not afraid of his power. I think I can give more back.”
Lineker, who is ranked #6 in the 135 division, is coming off a decision win over Marlon Vera in October.
