The upcoming, February 4th Ultimate Fighting Championship card has two more welterweight additions, as the promotion has confirmed that Matt Brown will take on Chris Cope, and Mike Stumpf will fight Justin Edwards at the Super Bowl Weekend event.
Brown (12-11) will be looking to rebound from a submission loss he suffered to Seth Baczynski at UFC 139 in November, which was the aggressive fighter’s fourth in his last five fights.
Cope (5-2) is also coming off a loss, as the former TUF competitor was stopped by Che Mills at UFC 138 in November, which ended the welterweight’s two fight win streak.
Stumpf(11-3) made is Octagon debut at Fight Night 25 in September, but was tapped out by TJ Waldburger. The fighter’s only other 2011 appearance took place in May, when Stumpf worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Dan Bolden. while fighting for the Xtreme Fighting Organization.
Edwards (7-2) dropped a unanimous decision loss to John Maguire at UFC 138 in his last outing, after scoring a UD win over John Lopez at Fight Night 25.
UFC 143 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz to determine the promotion’s interim champion.
In addition, the card will also feature another notable welterweight tilt, as former contender Josh Koscheck will battle Mike Pierce.
UFC 143 will be hosted by the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
