Cage Warriors: Morgan Charrieré to Battle Max Coga For Vacant Featherweight Title

Morgan Charrière

By Press Release

In a clash between two of Europe’s elite at 145lbs, featherweight number one contender Morgan Charrieré (15-7) will clash with “Mad” Max Coga (22-6) for the title recently vacated by Mads Burnell.

Surging prospect Morgan Charrieré, arguably the fastest rising name in French MMA, knocked out former champion Dean Trueman at CW109 in the biggest statement of his career to date.

With one of the biggest fanbases on the continent behind him, Charriere won Cage Warriors’ 2019 Knockout of the Year by the highest margin since the awards began, racking up almost 41,000 votes. Although his devoted following will be watching from home in September, Charriere insists he’ll gave the whole of France behind him.

Charrieré said: “I’ve worked so much to get this title shot and the opportunity to become Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion. You guys are in for a hell of a fight.”

Hoping to cut Charriere’s dreams short is Germany’s number 1 ranked featherweight in Coga. Of his 22 wins, 19 have come within the distance, making up one of the highest finish rates on the European featherweight scene.

“I can’t wait to win another prestigious belt while entertaining an international crowd,” said Coga.

“This fight has chaos and violence written all over it.”

To date, the Cage Warriors Featherweight Title has been held by UFC veterans Conor McGregor, Mads Burnell and Nad Narimani.

Cage Warriors 114, 115 and 116 will take place across three consecutive nights on the 24th, 25th and 26th September in THE TRILOGY, one of the company’s most ambitious projects to date. Charrieré vs Coga will take place on the final night, and makes up one of the four title fights taking place across the weekend.

THE TRILOGY will take place behind-closed-doors at the BEC Arena in Manchester, broadcast to millions worldwide on UFC Fight Pass and a host of broadcast partners across the globe.
