Strikeforce’s upcoming September 29th card in Sacramento, California, will not only feature a lightweight bout between champion Gilbert Melendez and Pat Healy, but also a compelling match-up between former champ Josh Thomson and Caros Fodor.

Fodor has confirmed to Full Contact Fighter that he has signed a contract to fight Thomson at the event, who had informed Sherdog of the bout in a recent interview.

Strikeforce has not made any announcement regarding the reported fight.

The 28 year-old Fodor (7-2) is looking to rebound from the third round, submission loss he suffered versus Healy in March, which ended the AMC Pankration fighter’s five fight win streak. Fodor’s run included victories over James Terry, David Douglas and Justin Wilcox.

Thomson will also be looking for a rebound victory, as the 33 year-old is coming off a split decision loss to Melendez in May, after handing K.J. Noons a unanimous decision loss in March.

Thomson is 3-2 in his last five bouts, with additional wins coming over Gesias Cavalcante and the aforementioned Healy, and the other loss happening versus Tatsuya Kawajiri.

The September 29th card will be hosted by Sacremento’s Power Balance Arena.
