McKenzie

By FCF Staff

Just days removed from his submission win over Marcus LeVesseur, Cody McKenzie already has his next fight lined up, as the former lightweight will move to featherweight to take on contender Chad Mendes at UFC 148. The promotion announced the bout today.

McKenzie (13-2) ended a two fight losing streak at the May 15th, UFC on FUEL TV card by tapping out LeVesseur with his trademark guillotine choke. Prior to the win the former TUF competitor was submitted by Vagner Rocha and Yves Edwards.

Mendes (11-1) hasn’t fought since UFC 142 in January, when he was knocked out by reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Mendes has earned victories over Rani Yahya and Michihiro Omigawa since transitioning to the UFC from the WEC.

The upcoming July 7th, UFC 148 card will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Chael Sonnen.

The card will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
