Chan Sung Jung’s Coach Discusses Next Steps For “The Korean Zombie”, Following Emphatic Win
By FCF Staff
Chan Sung Jung didn’t call anyone out after he quickly put away Renato “Moicano” at UFC Greenville. But, “The Korean Zombie’s” coach reported they intend to keep climbing the featherweight ranks into a title shot.
Jung was competing for the first time since November, when he was knocked out by Yair Rodriguez late into their thrilling bout. The South Korean star sent “Moicano” to the deck not long into the bout with an overhand right, and then prompted the stoppage with additional shots.
After the bout, Jung was asked about the possibility of facing Jose Aldo again, who defeated him back in 2013. Jung’s coach and translator, Eddie Cha said this (quote via MMA Junkie):
“Probably 4, 3, 2 and 1,” Cha said. “We talked about it, but we don’t want to look ahead. I think anybody higher-ranked than he is, we’re one step closer to that goal.”
While discussing the fact he’s returned to the win column, following his devastating loss to Rodriguez, Jung stated:
“I definitely forgot about that,” Jung said via Cha on the ESPN+ post-fight show. “But as a fighter, it definitely helps when you’re on a winning streak, as opposed to a losing streak.”
With the win on Saturday, Jung’s record now stands at 15-5.
