After incurring a throat injury during his UFC Fight Night 74 this past weekend, Charles Oliveira is heading back home to his native Brazil.

The lightweight contender waved off his bout with Max Holloway not long into it, and following the event, it was reported Oliveira had incurred a micro-tear in his esophagus. Recently the UFC posted the following statement regarding Oliveira.

UFC featherweight Charles Oliveira has been released from medical care in Saskatoon today and will be traveling home tomorrow. Preliminary test results for major chest, neck or throat injuries were negative and Oliveira will have a follow up appointment with his local physician upon returning home. Oliveira is in good spirits and appreciates the support he’s received from his fans during this time

Oliveira (20-5) had won four straight prior to the bout, which took place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
