Chris Weidman Suffers Setback in Recovery From Broken Leg
By FCF Staff
Chris Weidman’s road back to the Octagon has incurred a setback, as the former middleweight champ’s reporting he needs to undergo surgery again.
Weidman snapped his leg during a fight with Uriah Hall this past April. Following the injury, and surgery to repair the break, Weidman said he hoped to resume training in six to 12 months.
But, while speaking with Sirius XM more recently, Weidman reported the following (quotes via MMA Junkie).
“I’m actually getting another surgery – I just found out,” Weidman said. “I’m getting another surgery most likely on Aug. 11. They’re going to have to plate the fibula bone because it’s considered a non-union, so the bones aren’t healing the way it’s supposed to, which kind of sucks.
“I did expect setbacks and issues with this type of traumatic injury, and I’ve been through a lot.”
So unfortunately I’m gonna have to get another surgery on my leg…
