After McGregor announced he will fight on Januart 18th, the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ reportedly said he didn’t want to say against who, since the UFC will “flip” the opponent. But, ESPN is reporting that Justin Gaethje and Cerrone are the top fighters being considered for the fight, and that the latter is the front-runner.
Cerrone faced Gaethje last month and was stopped in the opening round. McGregor, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since last October when he was submitted by champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
