Following his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October, Conor McGregor has confirmed he’s in talks with the UFC for his next, and that he’s targeting July for his return.

Recently there’s been reports that the UFC is hoping to book a fight between Donald Cerrone and McGregor, but that the latter’s camp is insisting he remains in the headlining position. McGregor attended a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Chicago on Sunday, and while doing so, he told ABC – 7 TV this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“We’re currently in negotiations,” McGregor said. “We’re aiming for July – we’ll see what happens. I am staying ready. This morning I was doing incline sprints on the treadmill on my program, the McGregor F.A.S.T. program, staying in a hotel room. So we’re staying on it, getting work in as we go.”

McGregor faced Nurmagomedov at UF 229, and was submitted by the lightweight champion in round four.  McGregor’s appearance follow his arrest in Florida, for allegedly taking and smashing a man’s phone.
