Recently it’s been reported that the UFC was targeting January 18th for a bout between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone, and now it’s being reported the fight is pretty much, a done deal.

Several weeks ago, McGregor said he would return to the Octagon in January, and not long after it was reported Cerrone was the front runner for his opponent. Now, UFC President Dana White has informed ESPN that McGregor has signed on to fight Cerrone at UFC 246, January 18th, and that “Cowboy” is expected to as well.

The fight will be contested at welterweight and it will be a five round, main event.

McGregor (21-4) will be competing for the first time since last October, when he was submitted by lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Cerrone (36-13) is coming off a stoppage loss to Justin Gaethje in September.
