UFC President Dana White recently reported Conor McGregor‘s interested in fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov, in the latter’s home country of Russia, and the lightweight champ’s confirmed that’s the case.

McGregor is scheduled to box Floyd Mayweather on August 26th, but after that, it’s not clear yet what will come next for the Irish star. Before McGregor’s press conference with Mayweather this past Friday, he was asked about fighting Nurmagomedov in Russia, and the outspoken fighter said this (quote via MMA Mania):

“That’s certainly an option that I’m exploring,” McGregor said. “That would be a spectacle. It would be like something out of Rocky. I suppose this whole story is like a Rocky story, right? So why not face a man in his home country in a crazy place like Russia?”

“It’s certainly something I’d like to do,” McGregor added. “There’s a couple of options on the table. We’ll see what unfolds.”

The undefeated Nurmagomedov hasn’t fought since last November when he submitted Michael Johnson. The renowned grappler was booked to fight Tony Ferguson for the interim 155 title in March, but Nurmagomedov ran into medical issues while cutting weight and could not compete.
