By FCF Staff
Although Conor McGregor has reported in recent weeks that talks are underway for his next bout, more recently, the Irish superstar tweeted out that he’s retiring from MMA.
McGregor, who reportedly told Jimmy Fallon just days ago that negotiations are ongoing for a July fight, tweeted out the following Monday night:
Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today.
I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.
I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.
Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!

McGregor is coming off a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October. The 30-year-old, who recently said he wants shares in the UFC before committing to bouts that aren’t headliners, also said he was retiring in 2016.
