Conor McGregor: “We’re Close to Doing” Floyd Mayweather Fight in September
By FCF Staff
Not long after Dana White said he believes Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will fight, the latter’s reporting the much discussed bout could take place in September.
McGregor was at Madison Square Garden on Friday night to watch his Irish countryman, Michael Conlan, score a victory in his pro-boxing debut. After the card, McGregor proceeded to tell boxing reporters that he’s going to “shock the whole world”. In addition, the UFC lightweight champ told the LA Times the following:
“I’m ready to box. I’ve been ready for a long time. The game’s going to be in shock when I step in the ring. Trust me on that.”
“[September] is what I’m thinking. That’s what the word is. That’s what we’re close to doing.”
McGregor is currently taking a break from competing in advance of the birth of his first child. The Irish star won the UFC’s 155 title in November by stopping Eddie Alvarez in round two.
