The expected bout between decorated veteran Dan Henderson and renowned UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will take place September 1st, in Las Vegas.

UFC President Dana White tweeted the news Wednesday night.

The 24 year-old Jones is coming off a unanimous decision win over former teammate Rashad Evans last month, which extended the Greg Jackson trained fighter’s win streak to seven.

During that run, Jones (16-1) has scored victories over other former champions like Mauricio
“Shogun” Rua, Lyoto Machida and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Henderson (29-8) returned to the UFC last November and worked his way to a UD victory over the aforementioned Rua, in what was one of year’s most memorable fights.

Prior to the win,  the 41 year-old Henderson stopped Fedor Emelianenko in the first round while competing for Strikeforce in July.

The former Pride and Strikeforce champion has won four straight fights.

The venue for the upcoming September 1st bout has not been announced.
