Recently American Top Team’s Colby Covington blasted Robbie Lawler, for why, according to “Chaos”, the former champ left the team. But, it sounds like ATT owner Dan Lambert has no issues with the rugged fighter, following his departure.

Lawler and Covington are booked to fight on August 3rd at UFC Newark. In a recent interview, Covington claimed that his now former teammate left ATT, after the renowned gym hung up a picture of Tyron Woodley. The latter ended Lawler’s reign as UFC champ in 2016.

Since then, MMA Junkie spoke with Lambert, and when asked about Lawler, he said this:

“Well from my standpoint, fighters come and fighters go,” Lambert said. “We focus on the fighters that are at the gym, not fighters who have left. I don’t have anything bad to say about Robbie Lawler. Even if I did, he’d be the last person I’d say something bad about, I mean look at the guy. Look at the guy and look at his status in the sport.”

Lawler is coming off a controversial, technical submission loss to Ben Askren in March. The former champ’s current record stands at 28-13.
