Dan Miller has once again stepped up as a replacement for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as the promotion announced this afternoon via its Twitter account that the AMA Fighter will replace Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira at UFC 134. Miller (pictured above) will take on Rousimar Palhares at the August 27th event, which will be hosted by the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Miller (13-5) hasn’t competed since he replaced Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 128 in March, and lost by unanimous decision to Nate Marquardt. The loss ended Miller’s two fight winning streak, which included wins over John Salter and Joe Doerksen.
Palhares (12-3) is coming off a second round, heel hook submission win over David Branch at the UFC Live 3 card in March, after being stopped by the aforementioned Marquardt at Fight Night 22 in September.
UFC 134 will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Yushin Okami. The August 27th card will also feature a rematch between former light-heavyweight champions Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Forrest Griffin.
