Dana White: Anderson Silva To Face Jon Jones or GSP In Superfight This Year

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva

By Timothy J. Gilbert

The number one pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC, Anderson Silva, will soon face his greatest challenge in an upcoming Superfight against either Jon Jones or Georges St-Pierre.

“GSP is going to defend his title against Nick Diaz. Anderson Silva will defend his title this summer, and before the end of the year, we will soon see a Superfight with either GSP and Anderson Silva, or Anderson Silva and Jon Jones,” said UFC President Dana White at the UFC 157 question and answer session.

The location of the fight, however, is still unknown.

“If we end up doing the Superfight with Anderson and GSP, it will be in a big arena somewhere. It’ll either be in Vegas, out in L.A., could be Texas, could be Canada, could be Brazil,” said White.

This high-profile event would seem to be a perfect headliner for the UFC’s 20th anniversary, tentatively planned for Madison Square Garden in New York City, although White made no indication of this.

Despite uncertainty over combatants and location, White still managed to confirm the reality of such an event stating, “One of them is coming.”
