Dana White Calls People Debating Whether UFC – ESPN Deal is a Win or Loss “Idiots”
By FCF Staff
Recently it was reported ESPN has secured the broadcasting rights for the UFC, in a deal worth $1.5 billion dollars, and Dana White has some sharp words for people debating the merits of the agreement.
The five year, deal will begin next year, after the UFC’s broadcasting partnership with FOX ends at the end of 2018. While many observers have argued the new deal is a big win for the UFC, since ratings have been sluggish in recent months, there’s been reports the UFC was looking for more.
While discussing the ESPN deal with MMA Junkie recently, White had this to say:
“That’s what the idiots are always going to do. ‘Is it good, is it bad?’” White said. “Our last deal (with FOX) was $116 million a year. This one is $300 million. If you can’t figure out that that’s good, get outta here. I’ve been in Maine blowing my brains out for three days celebrating. That’s how good it is.”
White also confirmed that with the new ESPN deal, which includes cards streaming on ESPN+, the UFC will be holding 42 events annually.
