Recently it was announced that Demetrious Johnson has moved to ONE Championship, and following his UFC exit, Dana White’s argued the former flyweight champ didn’t get the respect he deserved.

Johnson has joined the ONE Championship roster, as part of a deal that has sent Ben Askren to the UFC. TMZ spoke with White following news of the trade, and the UFC President had this to say about Johnson (quote via MMA Fighting):

“If you look at it, the kid broke the record for the most title defenses,” White said. “I feel like he never really got the love and the respect that he deserved from the fans. I don’t know if he was always thrilled being here. So hopefully he’s a lot happier where he’s headed now. His longtime trainer and coach [Matt Hume] is an executive over there, so maybe he’ll be happier over there.”

Johnson defended the flyweight title a record 11 times, before losing the belt via split decision to Henry Cejudo this past August.
