Khabib Nurmagomedov has repeatedly argued that Conor McGregor needs to win multiple fights before he deserves another shot at the lightweight title. But, following McGregor’s win at UFC 246 Saturday, Dana White relayed he’s confident the champion would agree to a rematch.

McGregor faced Donald Cerrone in the headliner of UFC 246, and stopped the popular veteran in just 40 seconds. Leading up to the fight, White said that if McGregor won, he will face the winner of the April 18th bout between Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.

Following McGregor’s victory, White repeated the promotion will give the star a title shot. When asked about Khabib’s repeated objections to the plan, White said this (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“I’m telling you right now Khabib versus Conor is the biggest fight in the company and the sport’s history, but I think it might rival Conor and Floyd [Mayweather].”

“The reality is Khabib has never turned down a fight – ever,” White said. “Khabib doesn’t turn down fights; that’s not his style. He hates Conor McGregor and Conor McGregor hates him. So anytime you talk about one to the other, those are the types of responses you’re going to get.”

McGregor faced Nurmagomedov in October, 2018, and he was submitted by the undefeated fighter in round four.
