Dana White Confirms Fight Night Bonuses Remaining

UFC President Dana White

By FCF Staff

As expected, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will continue to hand out “Fight of the Night”, “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” to fighters every card.

Recently Dana White said he was considering axing the bonus program, and that he would instead, use the funds to raise the pay of lower tier fighters. White made the comments in response to UFC vets like Jason Miller, John Cholish and Jacob Volkmann, who publicly criticized the promotion for what it pays the majority of its fighters.

More recently, White said he wouldn’t make such a decision without consulting with the promotion’s fighters. During a media call Tuesday to promote the upcoming UFC on FOX 8 card in Seattle, White said the bonuses are staying.

“At the last press conference, I told the press we’re not doing away with the fight-night bonuses…I got a lot of feedback. The fighters want the bonuses and they want the discretionary bonuses to stay the same. So that’s that.”

The UFC typically pays an extra $50,000 to any fighter who picks up an award.
