Paulo Costa was expected to be next for UFC middleweight champ, Israel Adesanya. But, the promotion’s president Dana White has confirmed that likely won’t be the case.

Costa earned a decision win over longtime contender Yoel Romero in August, and in doing so, moved his overall record to 13-0. As a result, Costa was expected to face Adesanya next, following the latter’s stoppage win over now former champ Robert Whittaker, earlier this month.

But, while talking to “The Schmo” recently, White confirmed that Costa recently underwent bicep surgery, and that he’ll be out for “eight months”. White also said that the promotion is “working on something else” for Adesanya, but that it won’t be a superfight with 205 champ Jon Jones.
