Due to the fact Conor McGregor is fighting Donald Cerrone at welterweight in his UFC return, there’s been speculation the star might be targeting a fight with Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz next. But, recently Dana White relayed that a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, remains McGregor’s primary goal.

White spoke with Jim Rome this week, and while discussing McGregor and the former champ’s January 18th bout with Cerrone, he said this (quote via MMA Mania):

“What Conor wants to do is, he wants to get this fight under his belt, and if he beats ‘Cowboy,’ he wants to turn around as quickly as possible and fight Khabib.”

Nurmagomedov, who submitted McGregor last October, is booked to fight Tony Ferguson on April 18th. The UFC’s lightweight champ has repeatedly argued that McGregor needs to record several wins, before he should receive another title shot.
