Dana White Insists Rory MacDonald Will Fight GSP: “You’re Crazy” if You Don’t Think he Will

Although Rory MacDonald has said on several occasions he’s not interested in fighting his Tristar teammate, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, Dana White isn’ buying it. During a recent media call to promote tonight’s UFC on FOX 8 card, which will feature MacDonald taking on Jake Ellenberger, White argued the 24 year-old hadn’t outright said he wouldn’t fight GSP.

Now, in a more recent interview with AXS TV’s “Inside MMA”, the UFC President added:

“I’m want to ask you a question. He basically lives in Georges St-Pierre’s house, meaning he trains there in his training facility. He lives in Montreal, Canada. You know, Georges St-Pierre says nothing but good things about this guy. What’s he going to do? Is he going to run out in front of the whole world and beat his chest and say, ‘I want Georges St-Pierre’s title, and I’m going to take it from him’ and all this stuff? No, he’s not.

“But if you don’t think that he wants to fight Georges St-Pierre, if you don’t think he wants a shot at that 170 pound title, and if you don’t think he wants to be the world champion and make the kind of money that Georges St-Pierre makes, you’re crazy, my friend. He wants that fight.”

MacDonald is currently ranked #3 in the UFC’s welterweight division and Ellenberger is ranked #4, so the winner of tonight’s bout could be in reach of a title shot. St. Pierre is set to fight Johny Hendricks on November 16th.
