Dana White Reports Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje, Henry Cejudo vs. Dominick Cruz Among Bouts Targeted For May 9th UFC
By FCF Staff
It’s not clear yet where and if the card will take place, but UFC President Dana White is reporting that the promotion hopes to move forward with a May 9th card. In addition, White says that a lightweight bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje is planned for the event’s headliner.
Recently the UFC was forced to postpone an April 18th card near Lemoore, California, on account of the coronavirus pandemic. Ferguson and Gaethje were booked to fight at the event for an interim title, after champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was stranded in Russia due to a travel ban. Gaethje agreed to step-up on short notice after that happened.
Nurmagomedov cannot compete on May 9th as he is set to begin observing Ramadan shortly.
More recently, White has informed ESPN that the UFC is moving forward with plans to hold an event on May 9th. UFC 250 was originally scheduled to take place in Brazil on that date. White did not disclose whether the event will be held.
