Dana White Responds to Anderson Silva, Says Interim Title Shot “Will Not Happen”

By FCF Staff

Recently Anderson Silva demanded the UFC book him for an interim title fight with Yoel Romero, but Dana White says the legendary fighter isn’t getting his wish.

Silva has said that if the promotion doesn’t put together a fight with Romero, for an interim, 185 belt, he’s going to retire. The former middleweight champ made the comments on a recent episode of “The MMA Hour”. Silva also criticized the UFC for its plans to have Georges St-Pierre fight middleweight champion Michael Bisping later this year.

Since then, TMZ Sports caught up with White, and while discussing Silva’s demands the latter said this (quote via MMA Fighting):

“We will not do an interim title,” White said. “It will not happen.”

“Bisping’s ready, willing and able to fight the actual No. 1 contender, who is Yoel Romero,” White added. “Anderson Silva is ranked No. 7 right now. If he’s willing to take the Romero fight for June — because he was supposed to fight Kelvin Gastelum. You know, Anderson’s mad. I didn’t pull Kelvin Gastelum out. Kelvin Gastelum smoked weed, and now he got busted, and you know we’ve done everything we could to make another fight for Anderson.”

The 42 year-old Silva is coming off a decision win over Derek Brunson in February.
