Dana White Says he Doesn’t Know What’s Next For Tony Ferguson

Following the booking of an interim lightweight title fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, Dana White says he doesn’t know what’s next for Tony Ferguson, the man who held an interim belt not long ago.
Recently the UFC announced that Holloway and Poirier are going to fight for an interim belt on April 13th. Since Ferguson won an interim title in 2017 and has won 11 straight bouts, the consensus was that “El Cucuy” would be fighting for some sort of title next. But, White reported Ferguson turned down the opportunity.
At a pre-fight presser for UFC 236 on Friday, White had this to say about Ferguson (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I say all the time: When there’s an opportunity, take it,” White said. “I don’t know where this leaves Tony.
“Tony didn’t want the fight. It’s the fight I wanted (with Poirier). We even tried to make the fight (with Holloway), and he didn’t want it. You can’t make anybody fight.”
In Ferguson’s last outing, at UFC 229 in October, he recorded a corner stoppage win over Anthony Pettis.
